Last evening’s discussion on the the KDHX podcast Tangazo, took a deeper dive into the events that led up to the resignation of, StLouis’s first African American Circuit Attorney, Kimberly Gardner. ———
Social justice activist Walle Amusa, attorneys Randall C Cahill, Charles Kirksey and social justice activist attorney Jerryl Christmas, along with StLouis American senior editorial columnist Michael Wesley Jones, were my guest for a passionate and thorough debate on race, leadership and what the black community’s response should be to the attack on StLouis Circuit Attorney Kimberly Gardner, that led to her resignation. ———
Michael Jones, expressed his disappointment with black elected
“careerists” officials, who seem to forget who is the adversary,
all agreed that there is no black leadership, none whatsoever at a
time when it’s needed the most.
Walle Amusa , talked extensively about the great reform
initiatives, undertaken by Circuit Attorney Kimberly Gardener and
the support that she continues to have amongst white progressives.
———
The veteran activist promises street protests and demonstrations, in support of those reforms that Gardner delivered during her her six years in office, that sought to end the historical racist practices, inflicted on black and poor people in StLouis by the police department and the criminal justice system. ------
Walle, blames mainstream media for creating a false narrative
related to Gardener, being responsible for a judges failure to
revoke the bond, of a defendant allegedly responsible for a tragic
accident, in downtown StLouis. ———
Cahill, Christmas and Kirksey, all defense attorneys with pending cases in Gardner’s office, continue to support the circuit attorney and believe in her competency and ability to handle the prosecutor’s office. ———
